I Love No Story So Much

Ever since I was a little girl I've loved this story. The story of two couples, one forced together against their own will, and another who just can't seem to be together. This is one of William Shakespeares tragic comedies that comes to more than a happy ending which will leave you smiling at satisfied.

The main plot of the play follows Beatrice and Benedict. Beatrice, a stubborn woman who refuses all men, and has quite the mouth, absolutely despises Benedict. Living in the town of Messina, she doesn't ever have to see him because he travels with the prince of Arragon (being a lord and all). However, in the begining of the play Beatrice learns of the Prince's visit to town, along with her old enemy.

Hero, Beatrice's cousin, also has strong feelings for another man traveling with the Prince, Cladio. Opposite from Beatrice who is dreading the visit of the Prince and his lords, Hero can only look forward to seeing the man she loves.

Everyone in Messina is terribly excited when news comes of the arrival of Prince Don Pedro. Everyone also notices right away the love between the sweet innocent Hero and Cladio, and the hate that seeths from Beatrice and Benedict. With very funny quarrels between them all, the Prince and some of his friends, including Cladio and Hero, decide to have a little fun. A plan is put into the works to trick Beatrice into thinking Benedict is in love with her, and vice versa. The town hopes for them to eventually fall in love under false beliefs.

In the middle of this hillarious task, Hero and Cladio become engaged and are soon to be wed. The Prince's bastard brother, Don John, is sickened by the show of affection and happiness, and decided to ruin the wedding by claiming to have seen Hero sleeping with another man. Hero is hearbroken and fakes her death. Cladio is heartbroken as well, thinking his bride to be cheated.

Coming into play is the stress of Beatrice and Benedict finding out the tricks pulled upon them, and Hero approching Cladio alive. Who fixes everything though? Two drunken constables who stubmle upon all the wrongdoings.

The end of it all comes together nicely at the same time, and most things end up being resolved. I'm not going to give up the ending, but I will say this... It ends more than well.

I close this book every time with a smile on my face, and warmth in my heart. I don't know of a story that is so funny, yet so enjoyable and romantic when it wouldn't seem like it is.
