Doubfire on Fire

Mrs. Doubtfire is a wonderful movie. I just watched it again tonight. It is a good decent film in this time period. Although it does have some scenes of women in very scimpy bikinis and Pierce Brosnan in swimming trunks [someone say OUCH!] and some sexually suggestive innuendos. Overall it is a good watch.

Robin Williams is Daniel Hilliard a cartoon voiceover actor; who lives in San Francisco [in a gorgeous Victorian house] with his over-serious, interior decorator wife, Miranda [played by Sally Field] and three kids 2 daughters and a son. The younger daughter is sweet and adorable Mara Wilson [also played in the film Matilda]. Daniel is a fun but irresponsible guy. He gets fired from his job because he refuses to condone a cigarette smoking episode in the cartoon. He comes home and it's his son's birthday; and does this guy through him a party -- He brings into this gorgeous house a petting zoo; goats eating the flowers; ponies in the house; kids jumping on the couch; kids swinging literally from the chandeliers.

Miranda's tattletale, trouble-making mother sees the party and calls her at work; she rushes home and freaks out. She is met on the front steps by the police. And enters to find her husband and kids dancing on top of the dining room table. It is the last straw and she wants a divorce. The court orders Daniel Saturday visitation; which he finds impossible. So he takes matters into his own hands; aided by his brother [played by Harvey Fierstein] and his brother's gay lover.
