Pretty Basic, but still a good phone
Date of Review: Sep 24, 2009
The Bottom Line: This phonee gets recommendation because of the battery and the low price I paid for it.
I have had my Motorola W370 for almost 2 years now. I am ready to replace it with a newer model that is not falling apart!
Let me start by saying all has not always been bad with this phone. To start, I purchased this phone at a very good price ($20 two years ago). Since then, it has come down significantly in price. In fact, I saw this phone the other day on clearance for $8 at K-mart.
This phone has very good, clear reception and a good speaker which allows you to hear what5 the other person is saying. On the other end, the part you speak into is very clear. I have never had anyone ask me to repeat myself because they couldn’t understand what I was saying.
The W370 also has a good variety of pre-programmed ring tones. I never counted mine, but I know it has over 20 ringtones which range form basic phone ringers to song-like ringtones.
However, for all the positives I just mentioned, this phone is still a VERY basic phone! If you are looking for fancy features, you will not find them here. This phone comes with some pretty basic features; 4 games, a calendar, calculator, phone book, texting capabilities, etc.
Another positive of this phone is the battery. The battery that comes equipt on this phone has a good life frame. I have charged my phone, used it regularly, and not had to charge it for at least 3-4 days.
One feature this phone does have is Internet capabilities. You can browse the Internet with just the touch of a few buttons. If you are on pre-paid however, the connection to the ‘net is rather slow, and can cost a lot for just a few minutes of usage.
The problems I have had with my phone are basically with the buttons.
1st- Towards the top of the touch pad, there is a circle that you use for scrolling through your menu. At this moment, the buttons have half fallen off on my scrolling circle, making it very difficult to press the right or down buttons.
2nd-When texting, I have to often hit the buttons and delete in order to get he words I want. I can't tell you how many times I have told someone I "loue t" them instead of "love u." Granted, I am not the best texter, but I expect when I hit the 8 button 3 times to get a "v," not a "u" or "tt."
Overall, I guess I would reluctantly recommend this phone. For the price I paid, I did not expect it to last forever. I have gotten a pretty full life out of my phone! So if you want an inexpensive phone that might last about 1-2 years, this is the phone for you!
