CHEAP CHEAP CHEAPLY MADE

Date of Review: Mar 15, 2007

The Bottom Line:  I wouldn't recommend this phone until Motorola fixes the problems and comes out with a new improved model....In the meantime look at a Treo or a Blackberry
I bought the Treo 600 two years ago through Verizon. The only thing I did not like about it was the poor reception in my area. This phone would cut in and out which was problem. Luckily I didn't use it too much for talking on so it wasn't a huge problem just not reliable when I needed it to be. I have another Verizon that I would have to use instead which was kind of an inconvenience.

So now two years later I decided enough was enough. Verizon offers the "New In Two" plan where I get a $100 credit towards a new phone so I thought I would try out the Motorola Q. It looked a lot like my Treo but had a lighter and thinner design which was something I liked better than my slightly bulky Treo. It also seemed to offer more gadgets than my Treo had plus was quite a bit cheaper in price. So I purchased it last week and currently am not satisfied with it at all.

To begin with it keeps shutting off and will not turn back on unless I take the battery out and put it back in. One of the main reasons I used my Treo was to text message. It had the QWERTY keyboard which made text messaging much easier than on a normal phone. Yes the Motorola Q also has the QWERTY keyboard but the buttons do not work as well as the Treo did. I also find myself misspelling a lot of words somehow due to buttons sticking. Another thing I do not like is that the Motorola Q does not have the Chat Thread that my Treo had. My texts are all out of order and are hard to find. Text messaging is not as convenient as it was on the Treo. It's almost like I downgraded phones instead of upgraded. Yet another thing I find annoying is that it takes several steps to even look at your missed, incoming and outgoing calls. There are way too many unnecessary steps with using this phone. I've also found that the reception isn't that much better either which was the whole point of me getting a new phone.

I am going to be taking this back and trying the Treo 700 out. Hopefully the reception is better on this model than their old one
