I Ate a Blackberry and Got Bluetooth

The general populace is on the run. That's why we have fast food, 1 hour cleaners, and Bluetooth.

Between conference calls and driving, this Bluetooth headset has simplified my life just a smidge. For a decent price, I have been able to experience the joys of hands-free talking. This headset is "hands down", the best accessory I've bought for my phone, which just so happens to be a Blackberry Pearl.


Features
Although a lower end headset, the H350 has numerous features that make this item a great value. Features include 3-way calling, mute, redial, automatic power-save mode, and a quicker connection than some previous headsets. This phone is also reversible, fitting either ear. The headset comes with a wall charger, manual, and a quick-start guide.


Appearance/Layout
The Motorola H350 is available in black, blue, dark grey, medium grey, light grey, and pink. I opted for the blue one to match my because it's my favorite color. The headset is 2.32L x 1.10W x 0.75D inches and weighs a back-breaking 0.60 ounce (17 grams). There are only three buttons; one on the front and one on each side of the headset. The front button is used for one-touch answering, voice-dialing, redialing, and turning your headset on or off. The two side buttons are for volume. The earpiece is partially plastic and partially rubber. Overall it is comfortable, but I find it loose on my small ears, and my ears aren't freakishly small, mind you. A Blue LED light flashes while the phone is in use. This light automatically shuts off after 5 minutes of being idle to preserve battery power.


Using the Headset
Although the overall layout is simple, this headset takes a little getting used to. This headset uses a system of beeps to inform you on various situations including low battery, pairing with device, voice recognition, incoming call, etc. It took me a while to be able to recognize the different beeps and what they meant.

Voice clarity is decent, and I don't have any problems hearing the person on the other line. And surprisingly, despite the fact that the mouth piece is just above my ear-lobe, I haven't had any problems with any callers hearing me. However, the further away I am from the cell phone, the lower the connection quality is; both for me and the caller. I have found that the Bluetooth's 30 foot distance to be accurate, though at that range don't expect the best conversation ever. I don't dare venture further because I don't want to lose connectivity. This phone provides between 8 and 10 hours of talk time and an accurately advertised 150 hours of stand by time.

Overall
This makes a great, inexpensive Bluetooth headset, especially for beginners. It is simple to use, yet fully functional, providing the features one needs to make such a purchase practical. Some people, like me may find the headset to fit a little loose on the ear. But other than that, this headset is highly recommended.
