Author's Review
Motorcycle Consumer News (MCN) is probably the best motorcycle magazine I've seen. Unlike the colorful, ad-filled mags like Motorcyclist, SportRider, etc., MCN has more than just shootouts of the latest and greatest bikes.
MCN accepts no advertising, which quickly distinguishes it from all the other moto-mags out there. The bike reviews are thorough, and they try to include a range of test riders -- with varying levels of experience, physical size, gender, etc. The columns are good -- I particularly enjoy "Mental Motorcycling".
There's not a particular emphasis on sport bikes -- most new models of all types are profiled, and the reader comments and questions are more frequently on cruisers or tourers.
It is more expensive than the other mags at $41/year, but well worth the money.
