Moonstruck: ah, love's sweet lunacy! |
|||
|
Pros: Cher! Olympia Dukakis as a world weary woman who's seen it all.
Cons: Ok, so it's syrupy at times.
The Bottom Line: Funny, romantic, touching and it even has cute dogs -- Moonstruck is one of the best films to come out of the eighties.
Review: Ah that ol' devil moon! There's no resisting that old call...
About once a year I pop this one in the DVD player to cheer myself up when I start doubting love's magical powers. Director Norman Jewison dishes up a movie for us here that's... |

Pros: Funny, romantic, and beautiful to the eye.
Cons: Might inspire you to behave like lovestruck mooncalf.
The Bottom Line: A lovely and amusing romantic comedy with some delightful performances.
Review: Does new love always make us look as foolish as we may be feeling on the inside? Can the moon really influence us, especially when we fall in love? Perhaps
Both of these concepts have certainly come up before when romance and love are the topics.

Pros: Grandpa was a pip, Great cast, laughing out loud,
Cons: none
Review: Moonstruck is a funny movie that stars Cher, Nicholas Cage, Olympia Dukakis and Danny Aiello.
Cher portrays Loretta Castorini, a widow, who decides to marry Johnny Cammareri, rather than being alone. She meets Johnny's brother Ronny when... |

Pros: funny and smart comedy
Cons: i don't think Cher is Italian
Review: Okay, admit it! How many of you tried to make make fried eggs inside holes cut out of bread after seeing this movie? Although I had forgotten, my mom used to do it all the time. It brought back memories of my childhood and I appreciated the film all...

Pros: Definitely Oscar-worthy
Cons: None
Review: Let me admit first off that I dont have a lot of respect for Cher. Shes never struck me as a person possessing much talent; it doesnt take an artiste to belt out "I Got You Babe." When you think Cher, you dont think "Oscar-quality...

Pros: a LAUGH a minute!
Cons: It had to end!
Review: This was an absolute joy to see. One of the best mature and interesting comedies I have seen in a long time. Cher and Cage were tremendous and the whole ensemble cast were excellent.
Cher has never, and probably will never, be as good in her... |

Pros: Great acting, wonderful story
Cons: Can think of nothing
Review: For such a heart-warming film, so much of the movie dwelt upon death and darkness. Much of the action takes place in either the darkness of night or dark rooms. Most of the characters such as Cher's and Olympia's have black or white hair, while the only...

Pros: That bella luna! Great cast of actors.
Cons: Might be too chick-centric for guys; Nick Cage
The Bottom Line: A modern day fairy tale romantic comedy that is sure to delight anyone who has ever loved or been loved.
Review: I know this movie originally came out in like 1987 and I admit, I've avoided it til now. I don't know why. I suppose because it won 3 Academy Awards and well, you can't always tell a good movie by it's awards, plus I'm not one to jump on something just...

Pros: The actors are great, and its a wonderful story.
Cons: There are a lot of stories to follow in the movie, and you can get confused.
Review: Moonstruck is great. What else can I say? First of all I love Cher and Cage. They are both wonderful actors. The movie perfectly expresses that love is complicated, but never wrong in the end.
The movie is about an Italian-American family.... |
