The life of Brian... The alternative record of events

The Life Of Brian... where do I start? This outrageously hilarious british comedy from the extremely talented Monty Python crew is unmissable. The humour is pathetic and yet will have you in hysterics at parts.

Now that the Monty Python films have been released on DVD, there is no excuse for anyone not to buy them... unless, for some strange reason you didn't like them.

I have seen this film countless times, and it is blatantly obvious to me why it has been popular for over twenty years. The reason is the outrageous humour than cannot be found anywhere else.

This film was renound for its controversial theme, and was blasted by the Catholic church for its blasphemous content, but despite, or perhaps because of this, it became an instant worldwide hit.

Graham Chapman is excellent as the unlucky Brian, who is mistaken for the Messiah purely by being in the wrong place at the wrong time and hence attracts an unwanted following from people in search of guidance. Naturally, an unfortunate series of events takes place, culminating in Brian's crucifixion.

Everything about the film is almost perfect, right down to the soundtrack, which features the unforgettable classic 'always look on the bright side of life'.

Like Python's other two films, The life of Brian contains many hilarious moments, my favourite of which being when Brian states to the crowd: "You are all different", to which one man replies: "er.. I'm not".

If you have seen this film but not the others, I would strongly recommend you watch them too. They are 'the meaning of life' and 'The Holy Grail'. If you have not yet seen this one, make sure to watch it, you won't be disappointed.
