4 1/2 years, 50K miles, still going strong!
Pros:
Smooth and quiet, good gas mileage.
Cons:
On the small side for what is considered an SUV
The Bottom Line:
If you don't want a full-on SUV but need a little more room than a car, you should buy this car. Good MPG and fun to drive!

Author's Review
I leased my Outlander 4 1/2 years ago when it was a brand new model and they were offering outrageous incentives just to get them on the road. I totalled my car (pretty green Stratus, RIP) and needed something to drive in a hurry that wasn't going to break the bank.
This was that car.
My black Outlander is awesome. There has been one recall on it, but otherwise, absolutely no problems. I was supposed to turn it in back in February and I decided to buy it. I love it and plan to drive it into the ground.
I have the most basic model- no bells and whistles and it's fantastic. I have 2 kids, the oldest was just a baby when I got the car. There's enough room in the back for a stroller plus groceries, diaper bag, and all the other random crap you collect when you have a kid.
It handles well, turns sharply, and is a surprisingly smooth and quiet ride. I tell people it's just a good looking station wagon. It drives like a car, and has similar gas mileage. I get about 25-28 MPG in stop & go driving. It's higher off the ground than a car so it's easier to get in and out. It's lower than a minivan, so you don't have to hoist yourself up into it.
I'll admit, I'm pretty hard on my cars. This car can take it.
I have an automatic, but it has some sort of auto/manual sport shift. I never use it, but I'm told it's cool.
I do adore my Outlander and will likely buy another one when I kill this one- hopefully it will be many, many years before that happens.
