Beauty? Just Skin Deep -- Mediocre Goes Clear to the Bone

Date of Review:  Aug 30, 2002
The Bottom Line: A good-looking vehicle that remains undeniably a truck, the Montero Sport scores lowest in the performance, ergonomic design, and interior quality areas.
Review: There was a front-page story in USA Today a couple of weeks ago (16 August 2002) about how airlines are feeling the pinch as short-hop passengers decide to drive instead of putting up with the longer lines and waits at the airports. One of the...

THE MONTERO: Great as a Rental, but Would I LIVE With It? Hmm...

Date of Review:  Mar 24, 2001
The Bottom Line: It's a much improved Montero for 2001, and quite an attractive package. Still, it needs more power and better handling before I'd consider it over other options.
Review: You know you're an hopeless Epinions addict and car fanatic when... you're going on vacation to Breckenridge for a week, renting a 2001 Mitsubishi Montero excites you almost as much as the skiing itself. Does this profile match any nutcases out...

2001 Mitsubishi Montero Draws Looks From Valley Residents!

Date of Review:  Oct 11, 2000
Review: The first looks show the curves and bulges. You may be asking yourself whether it is bigger. Yes, it is! It is clear that the Japanese SUVs are making their mark on our roads. For the most part, a lot of them have had a good track record. The 2001...

Big Brother isn't Better

Date of Review:  Jun 21, 2001
The Bottom Line: The Montero simply can't offer off-road prowess and on-road civility. Sadly, the Montero Limited is a disappointment.
Review: The recently redesigned Montero seeks to carve a small slice of the American SUV pie out for itself. Although a more capable off-roader than many others in its class, the Montero has some shortcomings ON the road.

?I love it,? ?I hate it,?...

Let The Montero Take You There

Date of Review:  Aug 14, 2002
The Bottom Line: A good combination of agility, function, and looks make this a very capable little SUV for the average buyer.
Review: A Little Background

I had this truck for the whole month of July plus a few days. Once again my Accord was hit badly, this time by a stolen car that fled the scene...nice. I was planning to get a Camry as a rental simply for gas...

For The Minivan Hater In All Of Us

Date of Review:  Sep 14, 2000
Review: When the time came to replace our 93 Mercury Villager, we'd owned a minivan of some sort for over 10 years. We'd always admired the sexy sport-utes, but from a practical standpoint the minivan configuration always seemed to do a better job of...

Great Family SUV

Date of Review:  Jul 16, 2000
Review: Our family has been in the market for a family oriented reasonably priced SUV with a low range 4-wheel drive option that will spend most of its off road activities in a New England soft sands dune setting. One major requirement was the SUV we...
