Author's Review

This GPS unit has lots of features and is an excellent deal for the price. The casing is a little bit bulky and has a cheap plastic feel to it but it seems like it will hold up to anything it’s needed for. The included mounting arm is also a little bit bulky and for some reason they decided to place the mini-usb port for charging the battery on the bottom of the unit which means you have to mount it higher about the dash then you might want to.
The included maps and points of interest seem to be up to date and comprehensive but I livein Portland, OR so other people’s experiences may differ depending on their location. The one slight annoyance is the connecting time. After the unit has been put in standby mode and then is turned back on it can take anywhere from 1 to 5 minutes or so to receive satellite signal.
Battery Life: 4+ hours when fully on, about a week in standby mode
Durability: seems like it will hold up for quite some time
Value: I paid $80 for mine during a black Friday sale but I’ve seen them for right around $120
Signal Strength: Not bad although it sometimes goes while in tunnels and under large overpasses
Would I buy it again? Certainly. Gone are the days having to use mapquest and print out a copy. I especially like the home button that automatically plans a route home from whatever location you are in.
