?Zoom, Zoom? -- Minolta?s Dimage Z1

Date of Review:  Feb 22, 2004
The Bottom Line: From the mind of Minolta comes a truly unique 3-megapixel long zoom digital camera that very nearly hits the ?best buy? bulls-eye
Review: The Long Zoom digicam market niche has long been dominated by Olympus, but that may be changing. The new Minolta DiMAGE Z1is a versatile digital camera that s simple enough for casual photographers and simultaneously complex enough to appeal to...

Extraordinary! But returned within 15 day!!

Date of Review:  Sep 23, 2003
The Bottom Line: Feature rich, smart looks, excellent picture quality, ZOOM! and very user friendly But check for the reliability aspects particularly the LCD/EVF switching mechanism.
Review: Sounds like a great Buy but...

This is my first foray into digital photography. I was looking for a perfect digital camera within $400 price range, I definitely wanted at least 3MP with as much optical zoom as I could get, and also desired...

The Dimage Z1: Minolta (almost) gets it right!

Date of Review:  Nov 3, 2003
The Bottom Line: Want a digicam that focuses fast and offers a great zoom range and picture quality? Then the Z1 is for you!
Review: I was searching for a camera to replace my Olympus C-730. While that camera was very good in terms of image quality, battery life and features, the sometimes very slow shutter lag (the amount of time between when you press the shutter button and...

Best I have found yet!

Date of Review:  Oct 12, 2003
The Bottom Line: If you are looking for a good SLR camera, look no farther. Superior to point & shoot cameras. You will not be disappointed!
Review: After trying out several digital cams, I was lucky enough to stumble across the Dimage Z1. What a great camera! It is easy to use, menus are intuitive, photo quality and colors are excellent.

First off, let me say that I am NOT a...

Great First Ultra Zoom Camera

Date of Review:  Sep 7, 2005
The Bottom Line: If you can get this for a good price, it's a great beginning ultrazoom. You'll want more later.
Review: I love to take pictures of landscapes, natural formations, and sights that I can't always get close to. That's why, when I decided to upgrade from my "point and shoot" digital camera in 2004, I looked into getting one with at least a 10X zoom.

Minolta Z1, worth the money? I think so

Date of Review:  Jan 7, 2004
The Bottom Line: Learn to use the two step shutter for speed and you cant go wrong. The Zoom is good but slightly flimsy case loses marks.
Review: Having looked around the Web for a digital camera I was looking at either the Z1 or the Canon EOD300 Rebel. Unfortunately the Rebel was out of my price range so I bought the Z1. Overall I made a very good choice.

The camera takes good...

Nice for the price, very low pixel noise, Overall great camera!

Date of Review:  Oct 19, 2003
The Bottom Line: Why would I recommend? Read the reveiw, took me long enough to type it out...lol
Review: I have had the Z1 for a week now. I had the Minolta S414 first, but the low optical zoom and the power button turning on easily when placing in my coat pocket was a pain ( dangerous chance of damaging the lens motor ).
Being a Minolta fan from...

All my research paid off!! This camera is GREAT!! Would buy again NO regrets!!

Date of Review:  Dec 14, 2003
The Bottom Line: This camera consistently delivers fabulous pix!! Super easy to use for either point-and-shoot, or full-or-partial/manual function for those professional-pix. Great for beginner or a good everyday camera for the professional!!
Review: You have three different ways to take pix depending on your mood or what you need at the time:
Automatic everything with many preset scenarios
Manual-Partial
Manual-Full
I have one thing to say that impressed the heck out of me...

37 Helens agree: BEST BUILT-IN LONG-RANGE ZOOM DIGI-CAM

Date of Review:  Dec 24, 2003
The Bottom Line: Bought this camera and never looked back. Minolta could do a few things to improve it, but I couldn't find any other camera with more useful features for under $500.
Review: IMAGE SIZE: 3.2 mega-pixels. Viewed on my PC, the images look great and are huge. I don't print photos, so I cannot comment on the print quality.

ZOOM: 10x optical/4x digital. Optical zoom is the most important factor here!! Most digi-cams...

Good value for money

Date of Review:  Feb 19, 2004
The Bottom Line: I think that, within its limits, this camera is excellent value for money in the long zoom segment of digital P&S.
Review: I bought this camera as a replacement for an older lower (1.3 Mp) resolution camera since I from time to time have to deliver 3Mp + files. My choice was based on the long zoom range plus the fairly short shutter lag that this model sports. Also I...
