Looks nice, but terrible air flow

Looking at the specs this thing seems like it would move a lot of air, unfortunately no. I just installed two of these fans on my backyard patio, in the high setting you can barely even feel a breeze. I talked with Minka and they suggested I wire them direct to test the control module. With direct 120VAC they do spin a bit faster but still not nearly good enough. The problem I now see is that the blade design (which looks impressive) is more decrative than functional, that coupled with the relatively low max RPM 135, give you a very poor performing fan.
I found one other customer review on this fan from 2007 by a web seller where they also mention the extremely poor air flow. The seller responded that Minka Aire was aware of this problem and had so many complaints about air flow with this fan that they redesigned the blades increasing the pitch to 16 degrees. I have the new fan with the improved blade pitch, and I can tell you whatever they did, it was not enough.
The manufacturer claims this fan moves 6700 CFM on the high setting. If you stand under this fan when it is set to it's highest setting you will know there is no way this is accurate.
If you want this fan mainly for decoration then you might be happy with it. However if you want a fan that looks good and actually provides a reasonable air flow to keep you cool on those hot summer days, then look else where.
