Great washer

This Miele washer is a step down from the W4840. It doesnt have the MasterCare cycles. I bought it because I didnt need all the cycles the W4840 had to offer. It washes well and it holds alot of laundry in one load. The Honeycomb drum is gentle to clothes. The only thing that I have a gripe about is if you have pets and wash pet blankets it will leave the fur behind in the drum. The drum holes are much smaller than other washers on the market. When the fur problem occurs I just vacuum it out. Most loads I dont have a problem.
The other thing is that you have to use an HE detergent. I used to mix Tide HE and Tide w/ Bleach powder with my Maytag neptune and not have a sudsing problem. This washer if you mix you will get suds and alot of them. The washer then goes into a suds kill mode to get rid of them.
The washer also heats its own water using a 1000 watt heater. It will sense if heat is needed and will energize the element if its needed. This washer can be hooked up to cold water only if one had to. But doing that will add time to the cycle. All rinses are in cold water.
The washer also uses what Miele calls Hydromatic washing. When the load is wetted properly during the wash cycle it will vary the drum speed. Its hard to describe but it will tumble slowly doing a soak then rev up to powerwash the load then slow down again before it stops to reverse. Rinse cycles use a little bit more water and there are high speed spins between wash and first rinse and between 1st rinse and the 2nd final rinse. The spin speeds are dependant on the spin speed you select. Max is a nice 1300 rpms and thats only used in the last damp dry spin. If you choose the sensitive setting it will add another spin and rinse to make sure there is no detergent residue.
Also there is an LED light to light up the drum. Its nice and bright. Plus the detergent dispenser is easy to use...pull it out and you have 2 compartments for detergent...main wash and prewash plus a bleach dispenser which you can take out if you dont use bleach. The softener area is lidded in the front.
Overall this washer is flexible and simple to use. Very well made. Once you use a Miele washer you dont go back to using what US manufaturers have been selling. Not even the Korean machines like LG and Samsung come close. Or Fisher and Paykel for that matter.
Bottom line is that if you want a washer that works well, built well and one that will last not have to face replacing it after 5 years then this is the one for you.
