Author's Review
I was at Costco, and came upon this game. I have the demo, and it entertained me for weeks, but the amout of roads provided is very limited in the demo, so i spent the cheap 16 dollars and bought the game, here are some aspects that make this one of the best driving, and racing games for PC!
Gameplay, what is it about? Well Midtown madness doesnt use race tracks where you can only follow where it takes you, instead it molded a VERY realistic and detailed as well as interactive city of Chicago, Microsoft did not leave out one detail! From the Navy Pier and Meigs Feild along with the Sears Tower and the John Hancock Center, to Dearborn Station and the Water Filtration plant! Yes, there is a China town in chicago, and it is also on this game! Well you can drive any of these cars; VW Beetle (new), Freightliner Truck (w/trailer), Cadillac Eldorado (my favorite), Ford F350 (dually!), Ford Mustang GT (police version too), City Bus (ha), '68 Mustang Fastback, A GT1 Race car- Panoz GTR1, and the Panoz AIV Roadster. All of those cars have acurate handling and well detailed precise to the AC vents interiors. With one of these cars you can Cruise around driving at reasonable speeds, following trafic laws, etc, etc. Or race, or you can Cruise and cause havok, whatever strikes your fancy. You can merge into the expressway with other cars, and you may even crash into shopping malls, etc. It is a very fun game, give it a try!
Realism: With all racing games, realism counts, and Midtown Madness does not disappoint! With lifelike features for each cars- from the bulky handling of the F350, to the precise woodgrain of the Eldorado, the game is real as can be. Only thing that annoys me is the traffic has low AI, they will switch lanes weather or not you are beside them, and if your backup lights go on, they swerve into trees. But if youre careful enough you can drive for hours without hurting your car, or others.
Replay Value: wait, did I try driving the City BUS in the highway yet? You will be asking for more as you play this game, it only gets better each time. Enjoy your favorite tunes as you drive, because Microsoft's cars have a CD player, use specific keyboard keys to change tracks, etc. Play again and again, theres so much to do and see, you wont wanna stop!
Value: i paid 16 dollars, DID YOU EVEN READ MY REVIEW? IT's TIME TO BUY THIS GAME!
Overall: some people may disagree as they like to race with super-exotic cars, but i am more of a realist myself, and you will find me driving through the city at reasonable speeds with my Caddy-yes you can do that.

::THIS IS AN UPDATE::
So you have the graphics and great sound, with ultimate realism, so why cant you FEEL the road? Well you can with a force feedback steering wheel! It is great, you can feel the car tug when cornering at speeds above 50MPH, you can feel when you go up or down a curb, or when the car's front wheels are dangeling.
