Peace of mind for under $30!

by   jn_owensboro ,  May 22, 2008
Pros: Easy to use, with a loud alarm and good, clear reception
Cons: None. It's excellent.
The Bottom Line: Don't leave your family's safety to chance. Spend $30 and be prepared for the worst that Mother Nature can throw at you.
Review: Recently, I reviewed an Oregon Scientific handheld weather radio, and if you've read that review, you know that I was far from impressed with its performance. That radio has now been replaced by a desktop radio that is better in every possible way, ...

Very happy with this item

Pros: Inexpensive, easy setup, works great.
Cons: None
Review: I bought this just 2 days ago at King Soopers for $29. Brought it home and it was easy to program and was working within 5 minutes. Today there were thunderstorm, flash flood, and tornado warnings and it sounded the alert loud and clear. I went to see ...

The Bottom Line: This is an excellent device to have around the house if you live where severe weather could ever be a threat. Which includes, of course, just about everywhere.
Review: If you live in an area of the United States where a hurricane, tornado, or other severe weather catastrophe could threaten you or your family, a $30.00 electronic device could be the difference between life and death. This device is the Midland ...

Inexpensive, Loud home weather station

by   cxshih ,  May 26, 2008
Pros: inexpensive, loud, clear warnings
Cons: not weather proof, requires a power supply or batteries,
The Bottom Line: I would not rely on this weather radio if you live in areas of high risk regions. It is not durable and is dependent on batteries or a power supply.
Review: The midland Wr-100 is an affordable NOAA weather radio with alert feature that can be had for around 30 dollars. It can be programmed to tune into your local/regional weather alert station and will signal a loud alert signal if a threat is sent out. ...

Don't trust this thing with your families safety

by   sailfish218 ,  Jul 12, 2007
Pros: Loud alarm.
Cons: Loud alarm does not function when needed.
Review: This radio worked well until we really needed it. Yesterday it failed to pickup the emergency broadcasts from 4 different SETS when we had a tornado moving our way. Thank God we were awake and watching TV and saw the warnings. It's now in the trash, ...
