Toy-Sized...Adult-Approved

by   Sunliner ,  Jul 26, 2000
Pros: 2-mile range; Easy use; Tiny size; Inexpensive; Uses standard "AA" batteries
Cons: Speaker maybe a tad weak...maybe not.
The Bottom Line: I have to say that I'm impressed with these radios. They're toy-like in their size, but not in their performance.
Review: I got a pair of Midland FR75-507 radios in anticipation of a move that my wife and I were going to make, so we could talk between the U-Haul and the car while on the road. She spent a lot of time doing the "point and click" online money-getters, so we...

this walkie talkie is just right

by   thisiknow ,  Sep 6, 2000
Pros: price ,features,brand reliability
Cons: dearth of available accessories, darn things fall over too easy
Review: After much research,I decided on this one.Midland is an established manufacturer of CB and two way radios-I once owned a hand held CB radio from them, which was very durable. The other trusted name in two way radios is Motorola, however, the name alone...

Home on the range

by   rangerstyle ,  Jul 10, 2000
Pros: Very durable...also had small "ducky" antenna for durability
Cons: 2 mile radius is shortenned by obstacles
Review: I bought three of these radios from a large auctionhouse (Ubid.com) not really knowing whether or not I'd like these radios. I bought them as an alternative to using the telephone (since I only have one line), since my wifes work was only a mile or so...

Midland SpeakEasy 75-507 -- Easy communication!

by   iowamommy ,  Mar 23, 2000
Pros: Small, works well, sturdy antenna
Cons: Control switch is very tiny
Review: These radios were given to my sons (ages 7 and 9) for Christmas. We have two of them. They were a good choice because we wanted something beyond the “toy” walkie-talkie sets that don’t end up working well. We wanted to have real radios that would be...

Very nice radio for the price

by   NZ9E ,  May 25, 2000
Pros: Compact design, easy to operate.
Cons: No CTCSS or "Quiet Code" option.
Review: The Midland "SpeakEasy" Model 75-507 FRS Radio, a very nice little radio for the price.

Overview -
In May of 1996, the Federal Communications Commission created the Family Radio Service Band (or FRS Band) occupying 14 distinct...

Spend a very little more for a significantly better radio

by   zoomie-stopper ,  Jul 8, 2002
Pros: Very Affordable, Smaller than most all other FRS radios
Cons: Not the clearest sounding radio on the market, No sub channels
The Bottom Line: LED display hard to see in daylight. Outdated product. "Muddy" voices on receiving radio. Better choices out there for very little more money.
Review: Ok, so it's not a terrible radio. I purchased my pair back in summer 2000. At the time I was very happy with them but as of late wanted more range and clairity. I decided to try some of the the newer GMRS radios. Took back a set of audiovox from...
