Microsoft Natural Keyboard Elite - An Excellent Alternative to the Natural Pro!

by   OpalMan , lead in Computer Hardware at Epinions.com ,  Oct 22, 2001
Pros: Ergonomic design can benefit some users
Cons: Ergonomic design changes the layout slightly, affecting some users adversely.
The Bottom Line: An excellent choice for the user who likes the split design. Try it before you buy it!
Review: We recently had the opportunity to purchase several new keyboards at work. After a couple months of use, I can report wildly mixed reviews. Most users either love them and wonÂ’t give them up or they hate them and demand the old keyboard back. Very few...

Isn't it time to go natural?

by   DrDad ,  Dec 30, 2000
Pros: Reduces discomfort associated with typing
Cons: Large size; not as helpful if you "hunt-and-peck"
Review: When I first learned that "natural" was an option, I knew that was the way I wanted to go. When I first tried it I felt all awkward and clumsy, but soon I was actually enjoying the experience. Now, like any good convert, I recommend to...

Anyone Need Some Stroking? Microsoft Elite Natural Keyboard

by   thedragonweyr ,  Jul 12, 2000
Pros: Less Strain and Wear on Body, Lets You Get Your Stroking Speed Way Up
Cons: There Is A Learning Curve
Review: Just the other day, feeling optimistic about my successful installation of a new modem, I succumbed to the lure of a nice, new, ergonomically designed, split keyboard. I think I am in love!

Microsoft Natural Keyboard Elite Has PS/2 And USB But Buttons Too Small

by   dkozin ,  Jul 25, 2001
Pros: Comfortable, helps prevent carpal tunnel, looks cool, has USB connection
Cons: Pricey, odd key layout (arrow keys, Home, Insert, etc.)
The Bottom Line: I like it
Review: I have used the Microsoft Natural Keyboard Elite at work and the cheap no-name copy at home. The Microsoft keyboard is very comfortable, the pressure you have to apply to the keys is just right. The keyboard not only looks cool, but also helps...

All Natural for Me

by   pippadaisy ,  Dec 4, 2000
Pros: great for the traditional typist
Cons: not for the hunt-and-peck folk
Review: My first glimpse of the Microsoft Natural Keyboard came almost 6 years ago, when I was doing procurement for a large computer services company. It was the latest thing out there, so of course, all the techs just had to get one. I spent more...

All keyboards should be made this way...

by   vicwang ,  Mar 24, 2000
Pros: Faster speed, greater comfort, fewer typing mistakes
Cons: Larger than "standard" keyboards
Review: I find it amusing how many people have an aversion to "split" keyboards such as this one. I actually got mine free when my boss hated it so much (it came with a new system) that he gave it to me and bought another "standard" keyboard...

Mine is 7 years old

by   nei1 ,  Mar 5, 2006
Pros: Comfortable, durable, 15 minutes to get used to
Cons: Visitors wanting to use your computer will spasm when they see your curvy keyboard, Tan
The Bottom Line: Trouble free, chiropractor approved, sleek
Review: Yeh, I'm not a Microsoft fan either, but their forays into hardware seem to be pretty good. This keyboard was offered in 1999 with my Dell 450 MHz PIII. This is the one I have: ...

where has this been all my life?

by   rocoboko ,  Sep 18, 2000
Pros: very comfortable and natural feeling
Cons: some of the extra buttons are smaller
Review: I spend a great deal of time on a computer, both at home and work. In the last few weeks I have been having numbness in one of my hands which I shared at Bible study during prayer time. One of our friends told me about the split keyboard he had at work...

If you type with all fingers in the right spots - this keyboard's for you.

by   mike_chimirev ,  Aug 9, 2001
Pros: Very comfortable, wrists don't get tired as quickly, quiet.
Cons: You have to type the right way, not good for some games.
The Bottom Line: Great for typing, easy on your wrists, might not be great for some games.
Review: I've used this keyboard for about a year now - I have one at home, and anohter one at work. I do have to use regular keyboard here and then, so by now my hands have learned to adjust from one to another in the matter of seconds.

I bought...

Sure, I hate Microsoft but If you have to buy a keyboard, this is it!

by   igglue ,  May 26, 2003
Pros: sleek, fast action, and reliable. The 2nd best keyboard I've used in 15 years!
Cons: Not for non-touch typists.
The Bottom Line: Just buy it. Your body will thank you later. You can find this thing for just under $30, and it's probably the cheapest investment you can make for ergonomic improvements.
Review: I've owned many keyboards including IBM's classic keyboard with the double plastic cover, alps, mitsumi and everything under the sun?

In the order of my favorite keyboards (most are no longer available), they are Macintosh 2nd generation...
