Author's Review
If you have ever thought about wanting to be a pilot or even have the slightest interest in aviation, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004: A Century of Flight is a MUST! This software has EVERYTHING the beginner could ever want, and MORE! Some of the MANY features included are the Learning Center (filled with dozens of articles about all aspects of flight and the simulator in general), interactive flying lessons with a REAL flight instructor, a brilliant multiplayer environment, many different modern and vintage aircraft to choose from, and a whole VIRTUAL WORLD filled with almost EVERY airport in the entire world (40,000 )!!!
Although the included aircraft and scenery may get boring, there is a whole flight simulator community for the beginner to explore! Many freeware add-on developers dedicate their time and expertise to designing VERY realistic (most of the time superior to the stock aircraft and scenery) add-on aircraft and scenery. Many communities (known as virtual airlines, or "VA's") have dominated the flight sim community, as members typically fly scheduled flights in the simulator and gain hours while moving up to more advanced aircraft.
Really, I would have to say, if you think this simulator is not worth $20 or 30$, then the flight sim community would fill the so-called "worthlessness" and make the program worth MUCH more. There is always so much to explore and learn with this simulator...I have been flying with it for 5 years, and am still learning new things almost everyday!
