Good or Evil, You Decide

Kick a chicken. Slaughter a village. Pick on the guards. Fart in someone's general direction. You can do it all, in Fable. If you didn't know, Fable is a pretty open game. It's not as open as Elder Scrolls, but it still gives you plenty of options and things to explore.

You start the game, as just a small child. You're instructed to go out and get something for your sister's birthday. Well, to buy something, you're going to need some gold. So, all you do is go around asking for work, trying to raise enough to buy some chocolates. In the process of making gold, you can even expose a cheating husband to a woman, you pays you even more gold in return. Eventually, you'll have enough to purchase the gift. Instead of the day being a lot of fun, like you would expect, a series of events takes you in a different direction.

You're taken up by a guild, and that's where you really learn the game's basics. You learn how to fight, use a bow, and use magic. Eventually, you can access the quest cards. Once you accept a quest card, you can begin that specific quest. Upon completion, you will receive gold, and experience. The experience gaining in this game, is the greatest feature I think. You have 4 different types of experience. Strength, Will, Skill, and General. General can be used in any of the other 3 sections. You get Strength experience for fighting with weapons. You get Will for using magic, and you get skill for using your bow. To equally balance your character, you have to vary how you fight. Or, if you want a strictly magic user, you can just use magic.

About appearance now, it changes based on a couple of things. If you use weapons a lot, you look more rugged. If you use magic a lot, you look wise. If you're evil, you'll become a disgusting looking individual. But if you're good, people will praise you and look up to you. Depending on if you treat people nicely, or just kill everyone, you'll get good or evil alignment points. In addition to those, you'll also get points that increase how known you are. The more you get, the more people will talk about you.

The fighting is just in Action RPG style, with many different ways of battling your enemies. I won't give away all the skills and magic though, as those are for you to find out. This is one of those games, where you don't always need to follow the given path. You can take a break if you want, and go get married, or destroy some monsters. It's all up to you in Fable.
