Strangely Buggy Keyboard
Date of Review: Jun 26, 2006
The Bottom Line: Skip it. Quality is suspect, defects are constantly annoying.
I bought this keyboard because it was well reviewed on a number of sites and was the right price. I liked (and continue to like) many of the special function keys, especially volume controls and a dedicated standby button.
However, almost from the start I had serious and regular problems. For starters, the key sensitivities seem to be irregular. Typing normally, sometimes I'll get a double-press, and sometimes the letter won't appear at all. This has never happened to me before, and doesn't happen on other keyboards. It seems to be happening with most letters on the keyboard, so it's not a defective key or keys.
I've also been having consistent problems with stuck shift and control keys. I have to hit the key several times to get it to come unstuck - this is true on both sides.
Finally, the key-spacing isn't ideal. I switched from using a Microsoft 'natural' keyboard, which is quite different. But I use a normal keyboard at work, and the key spacing is much better for me. I don't have particularly large hands, either.
So, bottom line, if I had it to do over again I would not have bought this keyboard. It's always possible that mine is just a fluke - a single defective item. Or perhaps the drivers don't play well with my system. Regardless, I can't say I'm satisfied.
