My "Forever car."
Pros:
excellent reliability and get up and go... It never wants to quit
Cons:
The high mileage it's able to rack up makes one tend to believe it's invincible.
The Bottom Line:
I would definitely recommend this car. Just be cautious, there are bad ones too (of course, with an 11 year old car, the really bad ones are in the junkyard.)

Author's Review
I bought my 93 Sable in 1999, with 143K miles on it, after the Transmission on my Taurus fell out. I was very leery about it knowing that the two vehicles were basically the same. I soon learned how wrong I was.
When I bought it, it had a bad power steering pump that would whine and jerk the wheel in a turn. I never did replace that though, four years later. immediately after I bought it, I started saving for another one, expecting the worst to happen any time. It took me 20,000 miles to realize it's a good little car. I only had one problem with it the entire time I owned it, and that was the Idle air control was shot, I had to drive two footed to keep from stalling. Was no big deal though, 40 dollars, and ten minutes to replace (let me tell you, Chiltens is pretty handy)
This car is wonderful in the winter (I live 15 minutes from Buffalo, the Siberia of the West) and never had a problem stopping, sliding, or spinning... I even tried to do a doughnut in an empty parking lot, and the dang thing wouldn't let me.
I will admit though, near the end of her life, the electrical started to get weird. The passenger's rear window wouldn't open, the drivers rear door wouldn't lock electronically, and the dash clock would mysteriously reset on a whim.
And Furthermore, this is a car that wants to get up and go, and go, and go. As of October 22, she'll no longer be on the road. At 198,000 miles, I'm sending her to her final resting place. The transmission (original) is going. I'd drive the eight miles to work, and it would feel like it wants to just quit, and you pet the dash and tell her it'll be okay. just a little further. (Come on, I know I'm not the ONLY one who does that to a sick car!)The muffler needs replacement (only because of minor flooding we had in this area due to one of Fl's hurricanes, and the big puddles I had to drive through) and my power steering has gotten worse, again, since the flooding.
But never did she quit, or die, or refuse to just go. Like she was just out to please. However, because of the great experience I had with this one, I bought another one. A year newer, actually, and only 88K miles on it. It seems in excellent condition, Everything runs beautifully.
My biggest negative about this car, I would think, would be the fact that because of all the miles I had on it, and only put about 600 into it (twice was brakes) that I soon began to feel that it was invincible. And when I started having problems with the tranny, and the P.S. I chose to ignore them.. maybe I could have spun that odometer twice had I taken care of it better.
In all, I would HIGHLY recommend this car of almost any year to anyone. As long as you're a cautious buyer, I am aware that there are bad ones out there too, I just got lucky.
