Mercedes' Response to a tarnished brand name

I was really skeptical about the C-class given that Mercedes quality ratings form JD Powers have fallen below Hyundai. But it seems that Mercedes actually tried in 2005 with a new interior and the AMG body kit for the C-class. Everything just seem better put together than the previous efforts. The doors thud when you close them, gone are the annoying squeaks and rattles, and the paint has been impregnated with ceramic chips that resist dings and dents. The car feels rock sold all the way to top speed, the suspension setting can be a bit stiff at times but on most driving roads, more than capable of brushing-off road imperfections.
The reason you buy a Mercedes is that feeling of stability you get at high speeds and even though this is the cheapest benz of the lot, you still get that feeling through the nicely-weighted steering. Plus this c-class just looks so much cooler than previous years.
My only gripe is that the factory all season tires don't have much grip on dry pavement. Take a corner a bit too hard and rear wheels slip but is promptly corrected by the traction control- a harmless yet unsettling feeling nonetheless.
I've had the car for about 2 years and have had no problems. But if you go to any Mercedes Forum online, the 2005 still has bugs that need to be worked out. Overall I love this car... that is until I can afford an E class.
