Fast with no coasters

This was purchased to upgrade a 12x burner I had and so far it has been an excellent upgrade. It burns quickly and the burn proof feature ensures that I don't waste cds on buffer under runs. The burn proof technology lets the buffer catch up with the burning if necessary and is great because it lets me work on other programs while burning. So far I have yet to burn a coaster so no complaints.

Install was pretty standard and if you've swapped a drive before this is no different. I would suggest you put it as the master on the second IDE channel although it should work fine as a slave as well. The 52x speed appears to work fine with 48x rated discs. I'm not sure anyone has come out with 52x discs yet anyway and the difference in speed between 48x and 52x is probably very minor. The software bundled with it was Nero 5.x and was somehow coded for this drive in particular, ie wont work with other drives.

No complaints to note. I haven't noticed the drive being noisy as another review mentioned but my pc sits under the desk and out of the way so maybe the sound is muffled that way. This is a solid buy and should be able to be found for pretty low cost with rebates.
