Ever wonder about getting through with a particular CD burner medium or which one you should be using?
Well, I wouldn't guarantee there is better out than Memorex and I know there are some bad ones out there. Ever since the advertisements of
Ella Fitzgerald recorded by Memorex, I have been using it whenever available. That picture and the sound of her recorded voice (amplified of course) breaking glass is just one that doesn't go away, even if it was done on another one of their media types.
Many argue sound reproduction is better reproduced using older analog methods such as vinyl recordings and magnetic reel to reel, but they have their drawbacks as well.
Digital media is reliable and more easily reproduced for the average Joe. Now we see
USB, SD, XD, MMC, etc., chips capable of storing this media as well, but the CD is here to stay for a good while yet.
700 megabytes of storage might not go as far as some of those chips, but can they play well in your car stereo? How about storing backups of your work, programs, and pictures? Often, a
DVD-R would be cost ineffective at storage of less than 4.7 Gb., and recording a 52X CD is always much faster. Copying media doesn't get much cheaper than
CD-R when you want to distribute something to others cheaply, and for this reason Memorex 52X is my choice.
Whether I'm burning music for my car stereo or media for my computer, the
Memorex CD-R media has been there reliably for me. Those silver coated disks have a few lines for printing my descriptions with a marker pen and about the only thing you need to remember is not to damage that top coating which is somewhat durable. Scratches to the bottom or read side can just about always be cleaned up to repair a disk by rubbing or polishing from the center straight to the outer edges.
I've been using the Memorex 52X CD-R media for a long while now and I have yet to burn a "coaster".
Whether using my Sony 52X CD burners, IBM (TEAC) burners, or my Samsung burners - my recordings have always been flawless and quickly made. What burner program do I use so reliably? My
Sonic RecordNow is the one, and using my Sonys with their 52X speed I can tell you it is very quick by comparison to older and slower recording media. It is also a flawless procedure in perfect reproduction from the recording source every time, and I have all of my purchased CD's backed up to these. The originals stay in storage.
By its R and not RW designation you can't re-record these disks, so review your data and remember many processors will require no other programs running - as burning a disk is an intensive operation. Just one more reason for using 52X media, a good burner program, and a good 52X burner drive to speed the operation.
The
100 pack takes only an easy twist to latch or unlatch the cover to the base and all CDs are well protected. You even have a clear disk on top of those inside the package that can be used simply as a cover on top of the disks or a separator between your burned and unburned disks - assuming you want to keep all of them together. That plastic case is also fairly sturdy.
While I still have your attention, I'll give you a small secret on why all my music CDs burn perfect. I record to a RW (re-record or write capable) CD first to set up a CD before burning a final CD-R. Once I have this set up, I check it in my car's CD player. If your player doesn't accept
MP3s and such, your music will have to be a copy of a music CD or converted to a format your player will recognize. Unfortunately, all players don't recognize RW media - so this may not help you. If it does, some
Memorex CD-RW may be in order for you as well. Those RW disks can be re-written to about a thousand times so long as you don't finalize them. I'm still using those from a 25-pack I bought years ago. You guessed right if you figured they are Memorex, but they are only
4X RW.
You can bet I'll continue using Memorex and hearing Ella.
I don't know of a decent CD burner that doesn't work with Memorex CD media - and if I had one that didn't, I'd get a new better one! A 52X burner drive makes a huge difference for the better in burning times using this media, although
even burning at 2X with an antique burner will work. Maybe you should try some today.
