Product Review

Who's a Frontline Soldier?

by   getgit.com ,   Aug 3, 2002

Pros:  By far the best war game out on the Playstation 2. Realistic and gripping!

Cons:  Real as this game is it would've been nice if there was some blood.

The Bottom Line:  If my review doesn't convince you, just rent it once, and you'll be hooked after the first mission. I'm certain of it.

Overall Rating: 5/5 stars

My History

Yes, I've played this game before. War is hell, my friend. But that was a few years ago, and it was one the Playstation 1. The graphics weren't as good then but the intensity was the same. MOH and MOH,Underground had me hooked. They were PS1's best First Person Shooters ever made. Needless to say, I had my hopes up very high as I longed for the day it would arrive on the Playstion2. And now Frontline follows suit with it's usual solid game play. Delivering awesome simulation into WWII, placing you directly on the frontlines of Omaha beach.

Story

Yes, it says story. Even though I enjoyed the storylines of the previous 2 games, this time around they somehow manage to make you feel like you're really living out this game! Everything is so engaging and intense, I would definitely say this game is not for any one with a weak heart. Don't let that scare you though title is certainly worth checking out if not buying. You heard what's next didn't you? No, you say. Well then let me be the first to tell you. They are making a movie out of this game, like they did with Resident Evil and FinalFantasy. I don't know when it's coming out but I know it's going to have characters from the game like Patterson and various others. It should be good since the game is like a movie anyways.

Interaction

It's War, First you have to storm Omaha Beach (If you've seen the beginning of Saving Private Ryan then you can get an idea of how this game starts off). later in the game you get to do some undercover interaction that's pretty interesting while wearing a Nazi uniform. Townsfolk make things realistic, but some of my favorite missions were the ones where I got to advance though an area with other American soldiers. You get to ride in the back of vehicles as they roll through town and try and kill as many Nazis as possible. Some vehicles have to be sabotaged in order to advance. I think you guys are starting to get the point, there isn't a boring moment in the game. Each level plays a little differently then the others giving each mission a unique feel. Were talking 6 Missions and 19 levels, with weapons like Bazookas, Colt .45, Demo charges, grenades, ShotGuns, Silenced Pistol, Sniperrifles, Thompson Submachine Guns, Rifles, plus all the Authentic Germans weapons you get to use as well. Yeah!

The Skinny

I was expecting an excellent game and an excellent game it was. If you own a Playstation2 and have ever thought about buying a First Person Shooter buy this one, it's the best thing out right now. Hopefully better games will come along but until then Medal Of Honor, Frontline is the best game out.
