2001 Mazda Protege LX

Pros: great on gas smooth ride good warrenty

Cons: not enough standard features

The Bottom Line: I recommend the Mazda Protege to anyone who is looking for a new car. Its a great ride for a fabulous price, and its worth every penny.

I got my 2001 Mazda Portege in June, 2001, and it hasn't let me down yet.

Its a perfect economy car for anyone that doesn't have the money for the more popular VW golf or Honda Civic or accord.

The Protege offers a smooth and comfortable ride with lots of room to spare. The trunk size itself is incredible for a smaller car.

The fuel economy is great, even city driving. The cd player has great sound quality & i have yet to hear it skip! Thats nothing shortof incredible for some of the roads I have to drive on.

I drove it all last winter (keep in mind a Eastern Canada winter). It performed great in the snow & I didn'thave to burn a tank of gas for it to warm up.

The safety is great as well. It performed well in the safetly test & I love having the 3rd shoulder seatbelt in the back for when I have a full load of friends/family.

A lot of cars would start getting noisy & rattling after a year of use but my protege is still driving smooth. The only time I had it back to the dealers was to be serviced. The 2.0L engine has a lot of pep and its great for highway driving.

My only wish is it came with more standard features, like keyless entry & ABS Brakes. I had to pay extra for mine

I recommend anyone looking for a new car or even a slightly used one, should check out the protege. Highly recommended for all!
