The Miata: It loves to drive as much as I do

by   s_trimble ,  Apr 4, 2000
Pros: Just a blast to drive; great ragtop
Cons: The size thing; this car is small
Review: My father, a middle-aged former autocross driver, bought the car of his dreams one year ago. He's always been in love with tiny front-engine rear-drive roadster sports cars, and the Mazda MX-5 Miata is the epitome of the breed. He bought a black 1996...

I am a true "car guy," and the Miata is my #1!!!

by   tgaudmx5 ,  Jan 28, 2004
Pros: My spine tingling every time I think about it.
Cons: It's owned by people who don't know what they have.
The Bottom Line: I'll never let go of this one, and will hopefully be able to someday start a collection of others. A true EXPERIENCE!!
Review: I like a true driving car...cars that are engineered from the ground up to deliver an awesome experience from behind the wheel...cars that are reliable, light-weight, have good brakes, a good power-to-weight ratio, are tossable around town, ...

1996 Montego Blue Mazda Miata Base Model

by   halmdgee ,  Jun 9, 2007
Pros: Fun sporty two seat convertible
Cons: Oil changes difficult
The Bottom Line: This is a great third car for a couple to enjoy as an escape from life as well as a highly modifiable car with strong internet and aftermarket support.
Review: Reason for Purchase and Criteria I purchased my Mazda Miata in 2003 after much research for an affordable fun to drive sports car. My criteria are a fun stylish car with inexpensive aftermarket options for a two seat convertible as well as a ...

No Regrets

by   lisarichardson ,  Jan 14, 2000
Pros: Great driving experience, low maintenance, great value for $$$
Cons: For smaller people only, can't haul stuff around
Review: From the moment I drove my 1996 M-Edition off of the lot, I have had no regrets about purchasing this vehicle. It's been a complete pleasure to write the car payment out each and every month because driving the vehicle continues to be so much fun. When I...

Mass fun, great reliability, for just a few bucks

by   testfrank_1 ,  Jan 3, 2005
Pros: Cheap, Reliable, Nimble and loads of fun
Cons: Small and could use a little more power
The Bottom Line: This car is the most fun you can have for a small amount of money!!!
Review: I'm on my second Miata and I can tell you that of the the 30 cars I've owned, from Toyotas to Cadillacs, this one wins hands down for pure driving pleasure. The '96 I currently own is an M edition so I get mush more comfortable leather seats an adequate ...

The greatest thing since sliced bread

by   SEMAJ ,  Dec 16, 1999
Pros: FUN FUN FUN
Cons: NOT FOR EVERYBODY
Review: When I first saw a spy photo of the Mazda Miata in one of the car enthusiast publications back in 1989, I said to myself that's the car I've always dreamed about purchasing but nobody had up until then ever built anything that even resembled this type of...

Total Fun for Summer - Miatas are a Blast

by   joegilbert ,  Apr 6, 2000
Pros: FUN, reliable, good handling, maintains re-sale value well.
Cons: Small, expensive initial price, very expensive to repair.
Review: As a Miata owner for over a year, and one who had never owned anything except a practical 4-door car, I can honestly say they are a blast to drive. There is virtually nothing practical about this car, but who cares? If you are buying for practicality,...

Mazda Miata - 1st generation

by   booradley66 ,  Jul 19, 1999
Pros: durable engine, torquey, cheap to run and maintain, great aftermarket stuff.
Cons: storage space, chassis braces would be a good first buy for pre-92 models
Review: Want to know if you should invest your hard-earned money in a used Miata? By all and any means: YES! I've owned a 1990 for about 18 months and it had only 24,000 miles on it but and have added 45,000 miles to that in no time. It is fun to drive, handles...

The Adoration

by   npollack ,  Oct 26, 2000
Pros: Sharp car drives fast - speedometer goes up to 140 and so does the car (er, I'm told cough-cough)
Cons: Small storage and the antenna drives me nuts
Review: It looks like we Miata owners adore our cars....so much that even though 20 other people told you how wonderful their cars are - here I am doing it too. I LOVE my car. My friend Dar call it a "Jelly bean" - she has a Mercedes SLK...but I'll...

Caesar

by   caesarjudy ,  Dec 21, 1999
Pros: price, handling, low operating cost
Cons: none
Review: I have one of the originals. It was purchased in 1990 in NJ and now resides in Southern Florida since 1992. This is truly a poor man's sport car but also a terrific second or play car for any stable. Since purchase, I have only had to replace the...
