Wake-up the Maytag repairman
Date of Review: Oct 3, 2007
The Bottom Line: I wouldn't recommend to a friend but maybe to someone I don't like
This over the range microwave, in my opinion is not a very good microwave. It does not perform that well heating frozen foods evenly and the fan produces enough noise to make you want to leave your kitchen to have a conversation.
I do like the touch pad since it is easy to clean but the plastic material that they place over the touch pad keys scratch easily when you use a wet paper towel so after the first year my touch pad screen looked old and well used, which is not what I want a one year old appliance to look like.
The program features were common with usual things like popcorn settings frozen food, pizza, potato, beverage, auto cook settings, (ie: meat, poultry, fish, pasta), auto defrost, timer and clock, programmable sound on off, lbs/ kg, clock on/off. This microwave was part of the appliance package in my newer home and after three years it has failed.
Yep it's broken and useless and I am now looking for a replacement, hopefully one that doesn't sound like I am sitting next to a hair blow dryer while the fan runs.
Another thing about that, it never vented the heat from the stove very well either. Even the back portion of the burners were under served. I would think with all the noise from the fan that my home would stay a little cooler in the kitchen when I am using the oven. So(buyer beware)I'm hoping that things change for Maytag products... Whirlpool needs to do something about the reputation of this product line or Maytag will become another long time trusted manufacturer that turned into junk.
