I live in a condo with somewhat limited space for my laundry machines due to the closet that was intended for them being only wide enough to accept 24 inch wide appliances, so I have lived with a portable washer and dryer for about 9 years now. Not too long ago I got the bright idea that I could install connections in my garage due to the fact that my hot water heater is in there along with a sewer cleanout so I contacted a plumber that lived nearby and the next thing you know I had connections in my garage along with this wonderful machine. (Now I have two washers and one dryer)
After having the Epic for two weeks now I have to say is: where has this machine been all my life? I have washed every big thing in the house and doing some bulky items for my neighbors to boot. I decided on the Epic due to the fact that it is made by Whirlpool and the good price I got on it. I also understand that it has a commercial grade motor and better suspension relative to it's Kenmore/Whilrpool counterparts. One thing about front load washers that bugged me in the past is the fact that they really don't 'submerge' your clothes in water but just really soak/tumble them instead... Don't let this deter you, it works and it works wonderfully. There is a soak cycle on this that is supposed to add more water and I have used it a couple of times but I find that the 'intelligent fill' works as advertised and seems to add just the right amount of water to do the job, regardless of load size. There is a plethora of cycles and mods to choose from including a very handy hand wash cycle with no spin. One thing I will warn you about, there are 5 spin speed selections and this thing at ultra high speed spin (1100 rpm) will darn near dry your clothes before you put them in the dryer.. This is good for some things but can cause wrinkle issues so for the most part I used medium and high speed and its perfect.
And did I mention how quiet this machine is? You can hardly hear this thing unless it's at its top spin speed and even then its very quiet with hardly any vibrations. One way this thing keeps abnormal vibrations down is it 'knows' what kind of load it has.. For example, I washed a couple of small pillows in it which to me was a real challenge.. What did this thing do? It just spin dried at a lower speed for a longer duration of time, so in case your wondering, yes...lop sided loads are handled with aplomb but will extend the overall cycle time.
Not sure about the reliability of these machines for the long haul so I recommend the extended warranty for the peace of mind.
If you want a big front loader, get this one.. you will not be sorry.
