Just past warranty-needs 2 new mother boards
Pros:
Great in theory, horribly executed. My Mom's 30 year old fridge works better.
Cons:
Can I talk my Mom out of her 30 year old 'fridge? It works!
The Bottom Line:
DO NOT BUY THIS REFRIGERATOR; it has too many kinks in it yet.

I am writing to support the negative experiences already posted in the epinions listed here. My Maytag french door side by side is experiencing the same ice/water dispenser problems previously described and the mother board has to be replaced to an estimated cost of Three hundred dollars. The unit is just barely over a year old. Previous to its complete breakdown, the ice dispenser never worked smoothly. About one third of the time you had to open the door, remove the ice dispenser, loosen the ice within, replace it and then you could get ice to dispense through the door. Also, the doors do scratch extremely easily. As a matter of fact, they were delivered scratched and I have had 4 different doors installed. I have given up on getting doors that aren't scratched. After all of these negative experiences, I know why the dealer was so interested in selling me an extended warranty. The manufacturer doesn't have to provide an working product if I purchase an extended warranty. With an added warranty, they don't have to feel guilty about a bad product because they can fix it within the parameters of the extended warranty. I am tired of having to buy a warranty to support their defective product.
UPDATE: The repair man finally returned yesterday, I don't need just one new "mother board" for my refrigerator, I need two. He replaced a board in the door ice/water control unit and a board in the back of the refrigerator. The actual cost was $169.00 more than the original repair estimate or $469.00. Just an FYI, the problem with the board affected not only the ice and water dispenser, it affected the temperature regulator for the refrigerator and we had to empty the refrigerator. We went out and purchased a surge protector for the refrigerator. This was our idea-this was not suggested by the manufacturer, the dealer or the repairman! I highly recommend it. The repairman recommended we buy a bare bones refrigerator next time.
