Maytag MED5800TWD Terrible dryer. Do not buy

Maytag MED5800TWD takes 2-3 times longer to dry loads (Temperature fabric setting: High and Heavy with Wrinkle Prevent off) than my 15-year-old Maytag did before the heating element went out.

A load with 4 pairs of jeans and 12 t-shirts took 2 hours and 40 minutes to dry.

A load of bath towels (for a family of 4) took 2 hours and 40 minutes to dry.

One King size top sheet only and king size light cotton blanket and a couple kitchen towels took 2 hours and 40 minutes.

A load with one King size cotton fitted mattress protector and King size bottom sheet and four King size pillow cases took 1 hour and 20 minutes.

As you can see, I am not doing extremely large loads but the time it takes to dry these things are not just eating up my time but my money too on higher energy bill.

We bought the washer and dryer about a month ago. We called Maytag about the problem and they scheduled a repairman.

Well, the repairman just left and said there was nothing wrong with the dryer.

I did note two things to be concerned about:
1) The dryer was continually cycling between 125-177 and did not hold a temperature. The repairman said this was fine because the dryer did not contain any wet clothes in it. So I placed a wet towel in the dryer and the dryer continued to cycle but the repairman said that there needed to be more clothes in the dryer.
2) The dryer unit was collecting only part of the lint on the lint screen and it was sending a significant part of the lint into our duct. After approximately 16 loads of laundry, there was a lint ball in our duct (about the size that would fit into a woman's fist). The duct was clean when the dryer was installed a month ago.

With energy price going up and up, I know our energy bill this month will be astronomical besides who has the time to dry each load of laundry for 2 or more hours.
