Top of the line- Or bottom of the pile?

by   tiggerzzz ,   Sep 28, 2004

Pros:  Style, quiet, holds plenty of dishes, tons, of wash options, stainless interior is nice

Cons:  Questionable reliability, quiet but not silent

Overall Rating: 3/5 stars

Author's Review

We received this model as a replacement for our previous "dishwasher from hell" Maytag 9600 that Sears eventually took back from us.

I hoped that the previous model was just a lemon and all would be fine with the new one.

I was very pleased once it was installed. It cleaned way better that the previous one. And the stainless interior is really nice. This one won't stain red from tomato sauce.

The extra tough scrub features and 160 degree wash are also terrific additions.

But... within 2 weeks it just stopped pumping water.

It took over 10 days before it was up and running again (my kids didn't know you could wash dishes in the sink :-) )

A small plastic gear that drives the pump broke.

Yes... the main pump relies on a plastic piece smaller than the size of your pinkie finger to provide years of washing joy.

Overall I still like it, but buy the extended warranty or you will have repair bills in the future.
