Designed to fail

We recently installed this model, about 1-2 years ago (it has a 1 year warranty). Its broken now (lights are blinking, the electronic buttons are not responding). This is exactly the same experience I have had with my (top of the line) Maytag Neptune stacked washer dryer, i.e. the control boards fry, etc.... This is ridiculous. Embedded systems can be designed to last. Major appliances should last 10 years before needing repair. As far as I am concerned Maytag is a dead brand.

Other observations:
The dishwasher is very roomy, however, this means that the bottom rack is very close to the ground, which makes it hard to load.
