Author's Review
As my regular reader knows (g'day mate), I don't often do product reviews. This is not because I don't want to - its just because I find all this stuff a bit boring so my wife does most of the decision making in this area of our lives.
And one of the most boring appliances of all is a dishwasher..well, that's till you haven't got one!
Anyway the boss announces it is time for a new dishwasher, the old one having washed its last dish and will be given a decent burial. Spousy goes hunting for a replacement while I am busy watching the football and home she comes. The decision - A Maytag Jetclean Dishwasher MDB7100.
So why that one I ask, noticing the brochures poking out her always overfull handbag. Well have a look she says. But before I can she starts reading - It's got an "Exclusive Six-Tier Wash System, Active Vent Dry System, Heated Dry System and a Dual Filtration System with Micro-Fine Filter".
Well I'm so glad I found that out! But does it wash dishes. Of course, says she adding she actually saw one working and heard how quiet it was.
So the next day it arrives and a couple of blokes pull out the old one and in she goes. A quick test and its all set!
Now we have had four dishwashers in our thirty years of marriage, mainly because we have changed house a few times and most houses of course have them already built in. This one is quieter than the others and seems to hold a bit more, but I confess to not being scientific about the holding capacity.
Noise wise it is definitely quieter than most, and as quiet as any I have heard. The only thing about all dishwashers is the noise the water makes entering them. They are all the same this way, but maybe I have the water turned up too high, but when I have turned the tap nearly off sure its quieter but of course it takes longer to fill.
I guess there is no answer to that, certainly not in areas of high water pressure and it's no big deal really.
What matters is the dishes, cups etcetera come out as clean as a whistle and we can't ask for more than that.
Well maybe if it would just unpack itself, but seriously we are very happy with this machine and can thoroughly recommend it for anyone.
We don't usually have enough to need to wash every day so the rinse cycle is handy because we don't like the thought of our cutlery and plates growing penicillin between washes. Sure that uses a bit of water, but nowhere near as much as putting a one third full dishwasher through a full cycle every day. And speaking of cycles, there are more than enough to choose from and we both regard that as important because after say a party when it is full mostly of glassware it is simply not necessary to use a cycle that will scrub clean dirty pots.
So all in all this is the machine for us and we thoroughly recommend it for you!
