Maytag Neptune™ MAH6500A Front Load Washer

My wife and I bought a Maytag Neptune washer and dryer because we felt it was a quality product and would be backed by excellent service. WRONG on both counts. Our machine has never worked correctly, and it has ruined hundreds of dollars worth of our clothes. Mysteriously, marks on our clothes that looked like bleach marks began to appear on them. This is perplexing, because we NEVER use bleach. Of course the Maytag people have diagnosed the problem as being related to the use of bleach, apparently not believing the customer. The solution they prescribed involves the following (hang on to your hat...this is amazing. Wash the washing machine by putting bleach and a calcium removing product in the machine and running it at the top heat and top agitation cycles...remember the problem is bleach, now we're supposed to use bleach to 'wash' it. Whoever heard of washing a washing machine? Any energy efficiency promised by Maytag on this product sure goes out the window when you have to do this about every ten days. This is absolutely insane.

We have written to everyone and anyone at Maytag, including the CEO. The response...don't use bleach and wash your machine regularly. We demanded a refund...denied. We contacted the Better Business Bureau, and because there is a Class Action suit active against Maytag on this product due to mold build up in the machine, they will not get involved.

So, we are stuck with this expensive, lousy machine which is 'backed' by a service philosophy of blaming the customer and expecting the customer to go to extraordinary lengths to try to minimize the damage the machine continues to do to our clothing.

I never write stuff like this, but this experience has been completely exasperating. If this review prevents anyone from getting Ripped-Off by Maytag, it will be worth it. Spread the word, Maytag products are a Rip-Off, Don't Buy Them!!!
