After owning this machine for over a year now, I can honestly say this Maytag front loading washing machine is the Bomb! In other words, it is the best washing machine I have ever owned or have had the honor of using. Yes, the BEST!!
My old washer decided that it was not going to work any more. So, my hubby, the man who feels I should own the best of the best and not settle for less decided that we would search out the washing machine that would fulfill his standards of what I deserved. He is so funny, because I would have settled for a less expensive washing machine. But when there is only a couple of 100 dollars difference in cost between getting the best and settling for less, why not get the best. Heck you usually get what you pay for any way.
Okay on with my Maytag Washing Machine.... In the past with Maytag front loaders I have read some epinions about these washing machines having a moldy smell to them or the washers getting a mold build up in the front seal. I have not had any problems what so ever with this machine. I have not experienced this in my little over a year of owning my Maytag Neptune washing machine. I think that if you maintain the machine and occasionally wipe the inside of the rubber door seal. Maytag does recommend that you wash the lower part of the door seal with a solution of 1 cup chlorine bleach to 2 cups water to freshen your washer. Then to complete the freshening, you must set the control panel to whites, hot/cold, regular/heavy cycle. Fill the bleach dispenser cup with bleach and start the washer. Allow the washer to complete the cycle and at the of the cycle, open the door and dry the gray door seal. I have never done this to Maytag Neptune to date, but I think that it wouldnt hurt to do this step at least once a year. I usually wipe the gray door seal dry when I am done with my last load of wash for the day. It takes me about 20 seconds to do this.
On top of the Maytag Neptune Washing Machine is where you put in the detergent. There is a flap that opens up. There is a place to put the detergent, bleach, and fabric softener. No more pre-measuring the bleach, just fill up the cup inside the flap and you have the correct amount. There is also no more bleach spots on your clothes for trying to add it to you wash before your supposed to. Another thing I love about this Maytag Neptune washer is that the detergent is mixing with the water while it is filling up the washer. The soapy water completely mixes and penetrates your clothes. Your clothes come out cleaner and fresher then you have ever had them before.
The max extract on this machine makes the clothes as dry as they could possibly be before you put them in the dryer. I do not recommend this cycle for wrinkle free products.
One thing I have noticed when using my washer is that you do not want to completely pack the wash tub super tight with dirty wash. You can put a lot more in this washing machine then you can get in top loader, but if you pack it too tight you will just get a wrinkled mess of clothes that dont wash efficiently. The only thing that I could possibly come up with that I do not particularly like about this washing machine is that once the door has locked you cant open it. This could be a good thing because then you dont want to end up with a water mess on the floor. However, in case you forgot to load an item right after you start the machine you have three minutes after the load is started, to put in that item. In other words Maytag thought of everything when they made this washing machine.
This machine may cost more upfront, but in the long run you will save money. I have saved money on my water bill, and I have also saved money on my electric bill.
A big concern for me is the amount of time it takes to do laundry. I can honestly say that I have saved time since I started to use my Neptune Maytag washer. The run time on a load may be longer then your average top loader but, I am able to wash a larger load of clothes and not have to wash as many loads of wash. Heck, I am able to wash my comforter for my bed plus the sheets and pillow cases. In my old washer, I could barely fit the comforter. Hows that for saving a little time.
What I find a little funny about my new washer is that it wasnt until I went back to work that I let my hubby use it. I was a stay at home mom, so why have him do laundry? Well, one day he called me and said, honey, how do I start the washer? It was cute that he didnt know how! He know does laundry for me on his day off. He is such a sweetie. I know I dont have to be too concerned about him washing things the wrong way because this machine is pretty self explanatory and he just has to push a few buttons and be on his way. As long as he doesnt mix the whites with the reds and pinks I am happy.
Overall, I feel this is one of the better washing machines on the market. I dont feel you could go wrong purchasing this washer. I know that there are a lot of options out there, but this washer has to be in the top 5 choices of better over all washing machines, of course in my book it is number One!
