I don't know why I love you....

I really can't explain why I like this movie but every time I see it on late night TV, I have to watch. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't buy it. However, it has a real fascination. From the moment the thumping AC/DC soundtrack starts, you can't look away. It's a classic 1950s creature feature that's somehow wound up in the 1980s (ah, those halcyon days of a previous millenium!). Classic sci-fi format akin to the short stories "I made you" (Clifford Simak) or "Skirmish"(Walter Miller Jr) or, let's face it, way on back to Mary Shelley's Frankenstein.
The idea of a small group alone and trapped in a world where previously safe objects have suddenly turned very nasty is hypnotic (although hardly original - "Day of the Triffids", "Night of the Living Dead" etc. etc. etc.).
Watch it one. I don't know why I love this movie - it has no real redeeming features - but I do!
