Better than the TV show!

I used to watch Maverick on TV every week when I was a kid, so when the movie came out, I thought, "why not?". Well, this is one that doesn't dissapoint! Gibson, Garner and Foster make the perfect trio for the prime roles in this film, a tale of a gambling championship upon a river boat that all three are trying to get to--for different reasons.

Foster and Gibson play off of each other perfectly, Foster laying on the "southern charm" and Gibson playing the smooth, card shark Brett Maverick to the max. You aren't really sure what Garner's role is, until you find that he is also on his way to the card game. The section of the movie where they meet up with a wagon train full of women who have had their savings stolen by savages is truly going to go down as a clasic. When the "Indians" show up, they turn out to be not so savage, a fact Maverick doesn't want the others to find out about. It turns out the cheif owes him money, which he doesn't have. The con that they play out on a Russian Royal to get the money is truly a laugh riot.

You just know that in the end, Gibson and Foster are going to get together, and they do, but the twists and turns to the end of the movie will leave you guessing until the credits! A very fun movie, recommend you buy it if you find it for sale, once is deffinitely not enough!
