Sleepy-Head Doll...

This doll was bought for Christmas for my 9-year-old who is very into nurturing and caring for babies/dolls. We thought this would be a fantastic purchase. Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to be the case.

First of all, it took us 6 tries to get her to recognize her name. It still wouldn't recognize anything except for a one-syllable name. It never would accept "Cheyenne".

Second, this doll is extremely fragile. I cannot stress that enough. With all of the electronics and servos inside this doll to make it move, one accidental drop could permanently damage this doll--and this isn't covered by any kind of warranty since dropping the doll is considered "abuse".

Third, this doll wants to do nothing but sleep. She will play peek-a-boo once or twice and then wants to go to sleep. Then she'll wake up and want to play with her bear or give hugs and then want to go right back to sleep again. My 9-year-old is so frustrated with this sleeping machine that the entertainment value was quickly lost.

Fourth, she tells you when she wants something (her blanky, her bear, her butt changed, etc.), but you have a VERY limited time in which to give her what she wants or she gets sad (I'd almost call it depressed) and wants to go to sleep or cries.

This doll is a very cute concept, but the execution phase of the project leaves a LOT to be desired. This may be mildly entertaining for a child which has a very short attention span and doesn't mind the doll sleeping all the time or for someone young enough (say 4-5 years old) that doesn't quite get the concept behind it (but then you'll have a major problem with the breakable issue).

I would not recommend this doll to anyone and neither would my 9-year-old.
