Author's Review
For Those Who Increaseth Knowledge, Increaseth Sorrow - Mary Shelly's Frankenstein.
You have all heard of "Frankenstein".The traditional green man, with a square head and bolts in his neck? Well here is the real story of, Frankenstein. This is a short, not very descriptive "poem" if you will.
Frankenstein was a man who wanted to stop death. He believed that you could transplant a human heart, liver, or even head to your loved ones. He was right about the organs, he was right about the liver, and heart. But when you take somebodys soul, When you tamper with God, and you create life, God takes your loved ones away, and he takes your soul, and lets you live, until everyone you know, is gone. It was all because of you, You made life, you paid for life. You died, after he had chased you for a question, he wanted someone to love him, he was your child, but you treated him like a sin, instead of a son. You gave him life, you made him the way he is, and he asked you for one favor, and you disowned him. He just wanted a friend, but now he wants your loved ones hearts, and when tamper with her, your brides life, she dies again, burning not in love, but in hate, and confusion. You did this Frankenstein, and You never gave him a name.
The best thing about Frankenstein was the art, the beauty, and the death. It showed you that you cannot be god, but if you do, you will pay, by suffering. Frankenstein made a man out of "Raw Materials" from humans. He took many men, and made one. This new man could read, write, and even play the flute. But was never taught by his father, Frankenstein of Geneva. The man was full of sorrow, which could only be broken by a blind mans eyes, and a kind mans touch.
I thought the sound production in this movie was a little less than excellent, but that is pretty good for being made in 1994. The best aspect of the sound is when Frankenstein "builds" the man we know as "Frankenstein's Monster". The music in that portion in the movie was brilliant, I don't think we could ask too much more of Kenneth Branagh the director, and man who played Frankenstein.
As for Kenneth Branagh I think he did a fine job, he was my personal favorite character, and he seemed to fit the roll. As for directing, I would say he did a very good job with as far as lighting goes, and all of the organs, etc. all looked as real as they do now.
The picture of the movie was fairly decent, it did have sometimes when it would have problems with sound, or it might "fuzz" but I never lost the picture.
The main characters are: Robert De Niro, Frankensteins Monster, Kenneth Branagh, Frankenstein of Geneva, and Helena Bonham Carter, Elizabeth, or Frankenstein's bride.
There is no question of make-up in this movie, no question. Robert De Niro was almost invisble to the eye, with his scars, and his deformed eye, and lip. The make-up here was excellent, and that is why I liked this movie so much. It was believable.
The actors were a very good team, I think the movie was as real as it could have been. I mean when Frankenstein was putting the man together, he was sweating, grunting, in work. He also showed emotions of sadness, anger, deception, and laughter. As for Robert De Niro, he did a fine job as well. He had to look as real as he could, so he had a limp in one of his legs, after the fight with his Father Frankenstein.
