Author's Review
I've tried them all: Mademoiselle, Elle, Vogue, Cosmo....you name it, I've read at least two issues of it before realizing that it just wasn't for me.
Then I read Marie Claire. A-ha! This was what I was looking for. There were real articles about real women. One month (this past September, I believe), there was an article about a 13-year old girl who was caring for her ailing mother. I've read articles that opened my eyes about how I take my rights as a woman in the United States for granted, explaining what horrible hardships women in other countries often have to face.
And for my occasional desire for something a little bit less serious, I can find a few articles on fashion, shopping, make-up, and sex. It is a very well-rounded magazine, and I am rarely disappointed when I look between the pages of Marie Claire.
Also, at $2.50 an issue, it won't break your monthly bank if you're not looking to actually subscribe to a magazine, but just want a little light reading.
I highly recommend it.
