Product Review

Exploring the countryside by car made easier!!!

by   susanhop2 ,   Jun 9, 2007

Pros:  Great tool for the road warrior

Cons:  Sometimes routes you in a wide circle, but always gets you to your destination.

The Bottom Line:  I highly recommend having this GPS system in your car. It is easy to use and handy.

Overall Rating: 4/5 stars

Author's Review

I love to take a ride in the country, and in some parts of the U.S. you can become lost for hours, but with this GPS system travel becomes quite a bit more fun and you actually arrive at your destination. This GPS devise says "You have arrived!".

I often book hotels in advance, and finding the hotel can be an adventure. There is one area where there are three different roads with the same highway number, and the GPS will find your hotel, where it may have taken an hour of driving around before. Some hotels are hidden behind the rest and you just can't quite find it, but GPS will get you there.

Now - what is good and what needs improvement about this GPS devise?

This GPS devise is easy to use, though you do have to type out the addresses which takes some time. Magellan GPS will lay out the route for you in different ways depending on how you would like to get there. Choose the fastest route and you will sent on highways. Choose the direct route to have a fun drive through neighborhoods that you never knew existed. The fastest route is usually pretty good in a city that the GPS system is familiar with. If you know your fastest route is through the mountains of Pennsylvania and your GPS doesn't cover the mountains of Pennsylvania, then you will find yourself being routed through New York City - and that is not the fastest way. The other glitch is, when you chose the direct route, the GPS may have you getting off each exit ramp and entering back on the exit ramp.

Here are the great fun things that the GPS will add to your life!!!! I had the time of my life, routing myself from one place to another and taking the direct scenic route. I went through country side and discovered new wonderful places that I would never have found before. And I had never dared going into the city as I was sure I would be lost forever, however, Magellan GPS let me route myself to the center of the city, and what a wonderful surprise when I found the center of Charlotte, NC!!! And I even had time to get to the airport on time, as I routed myself to the airport from the city center. I had a laugh as the GPS routed me onto obsolete highway entrance ramps, and I am always having fun when I leave the route to stop somewhere interesting, and the Magellan GPS keeps saying "whenever possible, make a legal U-turn". Also, what is neat, is if you don't want to make a U-turn just keep going straight and the GPS will find you a right turn to get you turned around again.

I thoroughly enjoy my Magellan GPS and think it was worth the $200.00 that I paid for it.
