Product Review

Fantastic first time GPS

by   chaviland ,   Oct 17, 2006

Pros:  Dependability, ease of use, features - especially built in storage (22Megs).

Cons:  Firmware incompatibility makes uploading maps a bit more work .

Overall Rating: 5/5 stars

Author's Review

I purchased an Explorist 210 as my first GPS, and it has continued to amaze me. I purchased the combo pack with the map disks (which I highly recommend). The detail and accuracy of the maps, along with the dependability and ease of use make this unit an ideal first time GPS, IMHO. I had only one issue with the unit - the Firmware was incompatible with the Map Send software. Instead of uploading directly to the GPS, I had to save to disk and transfer to it via Windows. (XP treats it like a thumb/jump drive or similar removable media) - not that big of an issue.
