Underrated, if anything - works really well!

by   basscadet ,  Nov 9, 2007
Pros: well designed, navigation is idiot-proof, long battery life, audio loud and clear, text-to-speech, cheap!
Cons: somewhat dated graphics, very occasional mispronunciations of street names, 1.5 million POI's
The Bottom Line: The most inexpensive GPS unit with text-to-speech is a solid all-around performer.
Review: I've never owned a GPS unit before, so I spent a lot of time researching the various models before choosing this one. My reasons for doing so were a combination of price (Buy.com has refurbs for $169) and the fact that it offers text-to-speech (spoken ...

Magellan RoadMate 2200T GPS Review - Great

by   usmcmaj ,  May 29, 2007
Pros: Ease of use, great navigation tool, great features.`
Cons: Volume, mounting in 2nd vehicle,
The Bottom Line: The 2200T was easy to use and had the features I needed. I'd buy again.
Review: I recently purchased the RoadMate 2200T for my wife. Prior to selecting the RoadMate 2200T, I researched the internet for the options in a GPS which I thought valuable. I narrowed my search down to either the Magellan 2200T or a Garmin. I decided to ...

Fairly easy to use, fairly easy to learn

by   luthient ,  Jan 16, 2007
Pros: Great voice instructions, clear maps, recalculates well if you make a wrong turn.
Cons: Easier with a pointer for tapping screen; also, must know the city or zip code.
The Bottom Line: Great device; gets you where you need to go, even if you make a wrong turn; the voice guides you without having to look down to see the map.
Review: I've had this Magellan for about a month. It took a few trips to learn how it works. The good: It was fairly easy to learn. It easily slides into a pocket or purse. The voice instructions are thorough and very useful -- you hardly need to look at the ...

Versatile GPS With Limitations

by   oldtimer2 ,  Jul 14, 2008
Pros: Fits in pocket if needed, reroute, voice, color screen.
Cons: Screen NOT visible in direct sunlight. Built in battery NOT replaceable.
The Bottom Line: For the price, the portability, the end of worry of where is the next gas station or hospital etc, this is hard to beat.
Review: After owning so many of the old style GPS units, thought it was time for a street direction unit with a nice color screen. Have used this now for 4 months and have had ZERO problems! Another wonderful thing, is it comes with every single thing you need ...

Where is the Topo?

by   farmedb ,  Apr 22, 2007
Pros: Fast, strong reception, good size, easy to see, easy to understand.
Cons: Promised TOPO maps not available yet.
Review: I wanted a GPS that I could use for traveling, and hiking. The 2200t claims to be upgradable to the crossOverGPS. I bought this unit yesterday, and have been extremely impressed with the reception. It has consistently tracked 10 satellites in my ...

Just about the right bang for the buck

by   gladtohelpu ,  Feb 18, 2008
Pros: Easy to use, finds more addresses than any website did for me
Cons: Battery problems in cold weather, points of interest not extensive enough
Review: We purchased the Magellan RoadMate 2200T from Costco in May 2007 for $249. I was looking for something I could take on business trips so I would not have to continually print out Mapquest.com directions and almost get into accidents looking at them. It ...

so far, so good

by   staceycaron ,  Dec 17, 2006
Pros: Nice looking, easy to use and 99.9% accurate.
Cons: Doesn't SPEAK to you everytime you need to make a turn.
Review: Easy to program, easy to read, and very accurate. Only one fault so far, it doesn't speak to you EVERY time you have to make the turn, so you might have to look at the screen to make sure you are on track, which can be dangerous and distracting. But so ...

Magellan RoadMate 2200T GPS - Gets you where you need to go. But that's it.

by   jkafer ,  Jun 29, 2007
Pros: Good battery life, solid, basic navigation features, inexpensive
Cons: outdated maps, cruddy POI features
The Bottom Line: While I wouldn't use it for long road trips, it's fine for getting me from point A to point B.
Review: I have a lousy sense of direction. Seriously. I need to drive somewhere 5 times before i remember how to get there. Want to give me a North South East West heading? Forget it. I don't carry a compass. If there's a detour on my way to work, I have to ...

Need fine tuning

by   codycat ,  Jul 10, 2007
Pros: The price. The maps work well. The day/night screen is very clear.
Cons: Low audio, gets confused very fast
The Bottom Line: Hey, for $219 it's the best bargain around.
Review: I had purchased the 2200T about 3 months ago at Costco for $299. Although the products maps worked well, changing the route from the way it wanted to route me caused nothing but problems. I was in Atlantic City NJ and set the machine for shortest ...
