Magellan Maestro 4000

Pros: Safer than using a map.

Cons: When streets are close together, it has trouble catching up to where you are.

The Bottom Line: Good GPS. Makes traveling easier and safer.

Pros: Works well most of the time.  Updates available for a modest fee.

Cons: Lack of support for updates from Magellan is extremely aggravating. No way of contacting Magella.

Review: I own and am generally pleased with my Maestro 4000. However getting support from Magellan is like pulling teeth.  I tried nemerous times to down load a firmware update (in preparation of buying the maps update), only getting "corrupted file" ...

Pros: Big, bright display; reasonably accurate locations; lots of POI pre-loaded; pleasing voice prompts.

Cons: As built firmware has issues; scaling factor can't be locked for route guidance.

The Bottom Line: Big display if you want the barebones GPS. Gotta update that firmware when you get it. DOESN'T LIKE USER MAKING UNSCHEDULED STOPS!!!
