Inexpensive Bare Bones Model, but has glitches

Date of Review:  Dec 28, 2007
Review: The Magellan 3100 we were given as a gift seemed to work OK at first. However, upon putting it thru the paces on some known routes, we found it's "quickest" route option ended up being significantly longer than the routes we typically take. Also,...

The Magellan Maestro 3100 - Sets the Standard for Entry Level Travel GPS Models

Date of Review:  Jul 15, 2007
The Bottom Line: The Maestro 3100 does everything it claims in fine fashion. It is a great first or replacement GPS for any "cost sensitive" driver.
Review: The Magellan Maestro 3100 is a new entry level automobile GPS system, the least expensive model in Magellan's line of Maestro GPS units. While clearly an entry level GPS, and lacking some popular high end features, the 3100 is built around the...

Accurate and loaded with value at this price.

Date of Review:  Nov 12, 2008
The Bottom Line: Highest recommendation!  I have never been lost, or confused, even when encountering accidents which have closed expected routes of travel thanks to the Maestro.
Review: The Magellan Mastro 3100 GPS is well rounded, does everything well, and is a good value for the money.  The unit itself is attractive and even stylish.  The LCD screen is bright and easy to read in both daylight and night.  It dims automatically...

Maestro Magellan GPS has been great. I wont leave for a trip without it

Date of Review:  May 28, 2008
Review: I travel for work and this has been a great tool for me. I feel so much safer with it in the car and it saves me alot of time and paper. No more printed map quests and panicking if I made the wrong turn. It is extremely easy to use. Love it!

Date of Review:  Aug 11, 2008
Review: I brought twice n totally satisfied with its reasonable price and the features available into it.
It is designed in a way that even the small street addresses are very clear and it starts notifying you to take left or right turn beforehand. It...

Customer Service Horror Story - Defective Unit

Date of Review:  Aug 21, 2007
The Bottom Line: Do not buy this product as if you have any issues and have to go to the Manufacturer, you are toast...
Review: I purchased a Maestro 3100 3 weeks ago from a reseller. I had the unit for less than a day and then it would not charge. I walked thru all of the steps as mandated by your tech support representative, but we could not get the unit to work. This was...

The Bottom Line: buy it and save the stress for other issues in life!
Review: I bought the 3100 on sale!!! Before I bought this unit, I had only used a hand held GPS with no Map. I had to enter coordinates and name the Waypoints. It worked great for walking etc, but now I have a GPS with moving map! Big leap for me!!!

Excellent GPS...Solid Construction...Recommended

Date of Review:  Jan 4, 2008
Review: This is an excellent GPS unit. Purchased for $135 over holidays on the internet. Have been using unit for past 2 weeks on a daily basis. It's a road warrior, meaning that the construction of the unit is solid, the touch screen is very accurate, and...

Date of Review:  Jan 25, 2009

Cannot update maps!!!

Date of Review:  Feb 24, 2008
Review: This unit works well, is simple to use, even without instructions. Unfortunately, it's virtually useless right out of the box, in an area that is continually adding new roads. I just got my 3100 on 2/14/08, and the maps were about 1 1/2 years out of...
