A very basic 2.5 inch drive enclosure.

This is about the most basic enclosure you can get for a 2.5 inch laptop drive. It's small, it's light weight, it's simple. It works. However, there is very little standing between your drive and the outside world. You see, this is more like a drive sleeve than an enclosure. Your drive fits in like a glove with this enclosure. This keeps the physical size to a very bare minimum but if you're tossing it around while traveling, take care. But if you're looking for the smallest possible enclosure for your drive and at a REAL low price, this is one you will want to consider.

The LED on this unit is on the rear. This may bother some people and to those I would recommend the PHR-250CC enclosure which also adds Firewire. Due to the very tight fitting of the case, wiring the LED up to the front just wasn't practical. The front bezel is clear however and if your drive has an LED on the front (Not sure how many if any do these days) you would be able to see it there.

Potential buyers should also be aware that some larger and more power hungry laptop drives may need more power than your USB ports will provide. MacAlly includes a second cable which you can connect to a second USB port which will help in this case but you need to be aware of this. You could also use an AC adapter on this power connection but an AC adapter is not included.

Overall a decent enclosure for a laptop drive if you're looking for something that is USB only, small, and cheap. It's really hard to beat when it's less than $15. Treat it gently and it'll give you plenty of use.
