Author's Review
MLB for PSP is simply awful. The framerate is low, the graphics are choppy, there are not many modes, and the long awaited online modes dont work.
The framerate for MLB for PSP is very low. The game runs very choppy and even skips. The graphics are not even on par for PS2. The only modes of play are Quick play, season mode, and online play. There is no franchise mode, owner mode, or even mini games to keep you occupied like MVP offers. The gameplay is even poor.
The gameplay is in short: hard. The fielding is clanky and unoriginal. There are no throwing meters for the players, only the pitchers. Batting is very hard as you often have to start your swing before the pitcher releases the ball. You can guess the pitch and if you guess the right location and type pf pitch, you have a chance to hit it hard. This is the only thing fun in the game but again, unoriginal.
The much anticipated online modes did not work for me. I could not even connect to the servers despite a 100% strength wireless connection.
It must be a problem with the servers because I still cannot connect for this game or Twisted Metal:Head On. Nevertheless, I dont think it would be a good online mode anyway since the game is so subpar.
I would hold off on this game and wait for MVP for the PSP. This game was rushed and sent in a bare bones package to offer online play. If you must play a baseball game for PSP, dont even bother with this one. Wait for MVP.
