Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ2 5MP Digital Camera - Good, But not Perfect

by   dkozin , lead in Electronics at Epinions.com ,  Sep 6, 2005
Pros: Price, 6x optical zoom, compact, image stabilization, speed, image quality, battery life
Cons: Slight corner softness, chromatic aberration and vignetting in corners
The Bottom Line: The Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ2 is an inexpensive, yet very versatile 5-Megapixel optically stabilized camera with 6x optical zoom. Aside from...
Review: After having a generally positive experience with the 4 -Megapixel Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ1, I decided to try the, otherwise similar, 5-Megapixel Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ2. After all, it is difficult to find a combination ...

Excellent 5MP in its class - value for money

by   cybersimba ,  Feb 27, 2006
Pros: GREAT PRICE, 6X ZOOM, IMAGE STABILIZATION, WORKS ON 2 AA, GOOD SPEED
Cons: NO 640X480 VIDEO, NO VIEWFINDER, SOME DELAY BET PICS IN FLASH MODE
The Bottom Line: GREAT PRICE FOR 5MP WITH IMAGE STABILIZATION 6X ZOOM IN ITS CLASS. WORKS ON 2 AA BATTERIES. GOOD ENOUGH MANUAL FEATURES TOO
Review: There is a proliferation of digital cameras in the industry. In my opinion, at the time of writing, they can be broadly categorized as 1. super small size digital cameras with all point and shoot camera features plus some advance features, because ...

Great Camera for the "everyday" picture taker

by   eagerfc ,  Jul 6, 2005
Pros: Great zoom, picture quality, battery life, size, overall value.
Cons: Does not come with memory card, only has 14 MB internal memory.
The Bottom Line: Perfect for the on the go and enthusiasts. You can not beat this camera with cameras twice the price.
Review: Small size, big features. I am not a Professional by any means when it comes to photography, but I do like to take pictures of family, Auctions, etc. This is my second digital camera. My first was a Canon A95. It took decent pictures but the battery ...

What's Not to Like?!

by   bandersnatch2 ,  Aug 18, 2005
Pros: 6x zoom, stabilization, small, sharp pix, fast, easy to use, quality, battery life, modest price.
Cons: None encountered yet.
The Bottom Line: Excellent first digital camera. Also a convenient second camera for those with large DSLR's. Panasonic is on a role.
Review: If you are looking for a little pocket or purse camera with a reasonably long zoom and image stabilization, you have only a few choices, all from Panasonic: the LZ2 (5MP), the 4MP LZ1 and the stylish FX9. I purchased the LZ2 as a second camera. It comes ...

A happy compromise at a great price

by   rtc2000 ,  Nov 8, 2005
Pros: 6x optical zoom, image stabilization, AA batteries, small size, price
Cons: Indoor/low light, no view finder
The Bottom Line: 6X zoom clearly beats what most others offer in this price range. A happy compromise that works very well for me.
Review: I can't begin to get into technical details...numbers... etc. That's best left to those who really know and understand those elements. I'm simply someone who wanted a reliable point & shoot digital camera with a zoom over 3X, but without the bulk of a ...

Great camera for the price, w/ lot of features!!

by   alloy321 ,  Mar 12, 2007
Pros: Picture-taking and video in one device, ability to use SD cards, no special batteries
Cons: Videos can be "shaky" and usually have terrible "wind noise" in the background
The Bottom Line: I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants a great picture-taking camera with the added ability to record to some video
Review: My sweetie backed over his last camera with the car, thus prompting our need for a new one. It's been a year since we've purchased the LZ2 and we love it! It's like having a fancy camera and a camcorder -- in one small package! We've taken this ...

BEST OF THE BEST for the price!

by   joeb810 ,  Mar 5, 2006
Pros: Price is under 200 bucks and the quality of the pix are beyond good.
Cons: Uses Quick Time for the Vid. It should use MPG.
The Bottom Line: Great quality for the professional and great quality for the novice. The price and features are second to none.
Review: I got the LZ72 to replace my still working Fuji 1.3. Yeah, I bought the Fuji when 98se first hit the market. The LZ2 knocked my socks off! At first, it was complicated because so few controls do so many things. I was quite frankly beyond whelmed. ...

by   fairketch ,  Mar 26, 2007
Pros: Great on battery life. Separate compartments for batteries, memory card, and computer plugs. Convenient size!
Cons: None that I can think of! :)
Review: I wanted a new camera to replace an older camera. I received this for my birthday last year, so I have been using this camera for around a year now. I think it's great! I'm not a professional photographer by any means, but I'm pleased with the picture ...

Pros: Dependable, affordable, great pix quality, great features
Cons: None
Review: I've had this camera for six months and have used it several times a week since I bought it. The video is awesome. The anti-shake is awesome. This camera has no flaws. It's been dropped and mistreated but keeps on taking great pix! ...

Excellent digital camera

by   kris33074 ,  May 24, 2005
Pros: 6x optical, image stabilizer, 2-inch LCD, SD media, 5MP,
Cons: No viewfinder, Average resolution LCD.
Review: Panasonic blows the big name competitors away with this model digital camera. This is the only compact digital camera on the market to offer 6x optical zoom. It is also the only camera in this price range equipped with image stabilization and all for ...
